Beginner's silver clay workshop

Fancy learning how to make silver jewellery out of silver clay?

Why not come along and enjoy a workshop in our stunning Pulborough studio learning all about the amazing product that is silver clay and trying your hand at the craft. During the session (10am-5pm) you'll learn the following:

  • The science behind silver clay

  • The different types of silver clay

  • How to roll silver clay to a consistent thickness

  • Using textures to pattern the clay

  • Cutting the clay

  • Making holes in the clay

  • Refining dry silver clay

  • Hand and kiln firing your silver clay creations

  • Polishing silver clay to a mirror shine

We'll also learn all about mould making with silicone moulding compound and how to use your moulds to produce silver jewels.

At the end of the day you will leave with at least one finished piece of silver jewellery (most people have enough silver to make a set or more), a silicone mould and lots of free goodies to help you make more jewellery at home.

The course costs £150 per person and includes your tuition, 10g of Art Clay Silver, either a sterling silver chain or sterling silver earring hooks, sterling silver jump rings, silicone moulding compound and refreshments. All you would have to bring is a packed lunch or you could pop to the café at the garden centre, which is alongside the studio.

A fantastic course, absolutely fascinating to transform the clay to beautiful silver jewellery. A brilliant day!

Here are a couple of examples of the beautiful jewellery that students have made on previous workshops.
